LEXINGTON, N.C. — Molly Martens Corbett and her father, Thomas Michael Martens, entered pleas of not guilty Wednesday in Davidson Superior Court to charges of second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter in the death of Jason Paul Corbett, Molly Corbett’s husband.
Corbett and Martens were indicted last month. Jason Corbett was found beaten to death Aug. 2 at his home in an upscale golf-course community in Wallburg. An autopsy showed that he died from blunt force trauma to his head, caused by blows from a baseball bat and a paving stone.
Molly Corbett, 32, dressed in all black, entered the courtroom from the public entrance in the back with her head bowed and her lawyers, Walter Holton and Cheryl Andrews, by her side.
Martens, 65, a former FBI agent, was dressed in a white dress shirt, gray tie and dark suit. Martens entered through a side door with his lawyers David Freedman and Jones Byrd.
