WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A handful of local restaurants are banding together to help support Mike Rothman, the owner of Skippy’s Hot Dogs, who recently found out he has brain cancer, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
Local restaurant owners and staff members will be donating their time to re-open Skippy’s from April 23 through 30.
Skippy’s, at 624 W. Fourth St., abruptly closed after Rothman was hospitalized Feb. 25. He had surgery to remove brain tumors. And now he will undergo rehabilitation and receive treatment for the cancer. Meanwhile, his medical bills have been piling up.
A recent campaign on GoFundMe.com has raised more than $12,000 since April 1.
