WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A man accused of crashing into a Winston-Salem house and killing a man was convicted Wednesday in Forsyth Superior Court, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
Quante Hashim Rucker, 38, of Winston-Salem, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and driving while impaired in connection with the death of Tommy Leon Curry.
Rucker was sentenced to 15 years and five months to 19 years and six months in prison, the Journal reported.
The accident happened on Sunday, June 12, 2015. Police said that Curry was killed when a sedan driven by Rucker left the roadway and collided with his home at 300 Oak Summit Road.
Rucker’s blood alcohol level was 0.13 percent. The legal limit is 0.08 percent.
Neighbors told police after the accident that two other people lived in the home with Curry but weren’t there at the time of the accident.
