WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A Winston-Salem man has been sentenced up to 15 years in prison for his role in the 2014 death of 28-year-old Corey B. Crouch.
According to the Winston-Salem Journal, 24-year-old Cary D. Crowder was sentenced Tuesday after pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. He is expected to serve at least 11 years and eight months in prison.
On Sept. 21, 2014, Crowder and an unidentified man attempted to rob Crouch. When they did, Crouch began shooting and the other two fired back, killing Crouch.
The man with Crowder was not charged due to a lack of evidence.
