WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — First came a Krispy Kreme doughnut with Cheerwine flavoring. Now comes a Cheerwine soda with Krispy Kreme flavor, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
Cheerwine and Krispy Kreme have partnered again for Cheerwine Kreme, a soda that incorporates the flavor of Krispy Kreme’s Original Glazed Doughnuts.
“When Cheerwine and Krispy Kreme come together, great flavor collisions happen,” said Joy Ritchie Harper, Cheerwine’s head of marketing and a fifth-generation family member of Cheerwine’s founder.
In 2010, Cheerwine and Krispy Kreme created a doughnut with a Cheerwine-flavored filling and red and white sprinkles. That doughnut was available for only a limited time.
The label on the new soda, available in 20-ounce and 2-liter bottles, looks similar to the regular Cheerwine label. But it does feature the Krispy Kreme logo, a green cap and the slogan, “2 Southern classics, 1 legendary taste.”
