WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — An assault charge was dismissed this morning against a former volunteer at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for her role in a confrontation with a man earlier this year, her attorney said today, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
Donna Lorraine Bridger, 68, of Winston-Salem, had been charged with misdemeanor simple assault. She was accused of assaulting Isaiah Baskins on April 14 at Brenner Children’s Hospital in the medical center. Baskins said he was confronted by Bridger when he took his 3-week-old daughter to a doctor’s appointment at Brenner Children’s Hospital.
Baskins, who is black, accused Bridger of kicking and pushing him and said Bridger, who is white, used a racial slur during the confrontation. He recorded part of the confrontation and posted it on YouTube.
In the video, Baskins tells Bridger to take her hands off him and shows her pushing a baby stroller out of the family resource center. She tells Baskins “you’re getting out” and “I don’t have to put up with you.”
